Automobiles in German City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were contacted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism made him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
